Your Bag Could Be The Problem
Introduction
Let's talk about that bag we carry everywhere.
To work. To school. To church. To appointments. Even for a quick outing that was supposed to take 30 minutes.
What is inside yours? Laptop. Charger. Books. Water bottle. Makeup. Perfume. Snacks. Somehow, things we have not used in months are still living comfortably inside. But have you ever stopped to think about what that bag is asking your body to carry every day?
It's Not Just About the Bag
Carrying a bag is not automatically a problem. The issue can come from how much we carry, how we carry it and how long we carry it. A heavy bag carried for long periods can put extra stress on our shoulders, neck and back.
We must understand that when we constantly carry it on one side, our body has to adjust to that uneven load. So, no, we are not saying: “Throw your bag away!” We are simply saying, pay attention to it.
What Can We Do?
Start by checking what's actually inside your bag.
Do you really need everything in there?
If you are using a backpack, use both straps rather than hanging it over one shoulder. Adjust the straps so the bag sits comfortably and isn't hanging too low.
If you are carrying something heavy by hand, try to distribute the load rather than putting everything in one hand. Sometimes, the simplest solution is to carry less.
Challenge for the day:
Go through your everyday bag today. What can you remove? You might be surprised by how many things you are carrying that you do not actually need. Then pay attention to how you carry what is left.
Final Thoughts
Our bags are part of our everyday lives, but that doesn't mean our bodies have to suffer for it. A little awareness of what we carry, how we carry it and how long we carry it can make a difference.
So, before you leave home everyday, take another look at that bag. Is it carrying what you need – or are you carrying what you don't need?
